My Greece Atlas · George Tatakis

Greece’s living traditions, curated.

A cultural atlas that began with years of photographic fieldwork — and is growing into a curated guide to the Greece that still lives.

Why this exists

Not everything Greek. Only what still belongs.

The atlas began with rituals and local dress. Over time, it can connect those traditions to food, music, craft, places, people and ways of travelling through Greece — always selected with context and taste.

Events

Rituals, festivals and local customs organised by date, place and season.

Local costumes

Traditional dress connected to region, village, body, memory and place.

The curated atlas

A growing way into food, music, craft, routes, stays, stories and cultural context.

How it is built

Curated means looked at closely.

01

Fieldwork

It starts with being there: travelling, returning, photographing and listening before anything becomes part of the atlas.

02

Curation

Not everything is included. The atlas is selected for context, cultural connection and taste — so the experience remains focused and beautiful.

03

Contributors

Future layers can include people and places beyond George’s own work, but always inside a curated editorial standard.

The atlas begins in the field.

Travel. Research. Return. Photograph. Connect.

From archive to platform

It begins with the photographs.

My Greece Atlas starts from George Tatakis’s long-term work on Greek ritual, dress, identity and place.

But the larger idea is wider: a curated platform for Greece’s living tradition, where future collaborators can add material that belongs — from music and recipes to crafts, local products, restaurants, stays, routes and stories.

The atlas is growing

One Greece. Many layers.

Local kitchens, ingredients and ways of making.

Songs, instruments, sound and regional practice.

Material knowledge carried by hand and place.

Guesthouses, hotels, restaurants and places with cultural character.

Ways of travelling through tradition, landscape and memory.

Created and curated by

George Tatakis

A photographer and filmmaker based in Athens, working across Greek culture, ritual, traditional dress, identity and place through long-term photographic projects.

The atlas begins with that body of work — and grows into an editorial standard for what belongs in a tasteful, serious guide to Greece’s living traditions.

If you want Greece with context and taste.

Not a list of places. Not folklore as decoration. A curated way to see the Greece that still lives — through the people, places, traditions and objects that continue to carry it.
