Why this exists

Not an archive. A living tradition.

Traditional Events of Greece is a personally curated guide to rituals, festivals and communal customs across the country — built from years of travelling, photographing and researching for Ethos.

By date

Find rituals and celebrations taking place during a particular journey or season.

On the map

Move across Greece geographically and discover traditions connected to each place.

With context

Understand what happens, where it comes from and why the custom matters.

How it is built

Fieldwork before features.

01

Research

Dates, sources and local context are checked and refined over time.

02

Fieldwork

Many entries grow from direct experience and repeated journeys across Greece.

03

Photography

The visual language comes from George Tatakis’s long-term work on Greek culture, identity and place.

Tradition survives because people continue to practise it.

Not frozen. Not staged. Still lived.

The atlas is growing

This is only the first layer.

Over time, the project may connect events with the wider cultural world around them.
